I need some advice on spiritual methods I could use to help myself find out what I should major in?

I'm a sophomore in college now, and my advisors are starting to hint that I need to pick a major. Problem is, I have interests in everything from business, to geology, math, physics, etc. I also excell in anything academically related so I really don't have subjects that I can't do.

I've taken thousands of personality/career tests, talked to people and now I want to do some soul searching if you know what I mean.. So got any good ideas for me? Thanks so much! =]I need some advice on spiritual methods I could use to help myself find out what I should major in?
For questions like this tarot cards can be a good option, since they get to the point.

I could be of more assistance if I could actually see your palm. I am seeing you taking math all the way to math professor and teaching math at college level.

  • Advice for spiritual emptiness?

I am feeling very disconnected lately, not only to people (wife, children, etc.) but also to God, or whoever/whatever is in charge. I don鈥檛 know that I believe in a Christian God any more, don鈥檛 know what I believe. I feel dead inside, without hope, just going thru daily motions. Any advice? I鈥檓 not looking to be preached at (so anybody who wants to, keep your reply to yourself), but trying to find an answer for myself.Advice for spiritual emptiness?

Fi f t h M a t t e r : Since this world is transitory, and since life is short, and since the truly essential duties are many, and since eternal life will be gained here, and since the world is not without an owner, and since this guest-house of the world has a most Wise and Generous director, and since neither good nor bad will remain without recompense, and since according to the verse,

On no soul does God place a burden greater than it can bear10

there is no obligation that cannot be borne, and since a safe way is preferable to a harmful way, and since worldly friends and ranks last only till the door of the grave, then surely the most fortunate is he who does not forget the hereafter for this world, and does not sacrifice the hereafter for this world, and does not destroy the life of the hereafter for worldly life, and does not waste his life on trivial things, but considers himself to be a guest and acts in accordance with the commands of the guest-house's Owner, then opens the door of the grave in confidence and enters upon eternal happiness.

    Best regards.
This is not an easy question to answer. You really have to just serach your heart and find the reasons why you are so lost in spirit. There is only one definite thing I can say, God is real. He is the only one who can help you through your problems whether that is by speaking to your heart or speaking to you through another person. He is alive and real. He has known you before he created you. I know it sounds bizzar at times but God is real. You seem to have faith, so do not lose it.

Like before, search yourself for the answer to your problems right now. In those answers you will find your path again.

    God Blessed.
    Hi

I understand. I've have truly been there. For me it was disillusionment, sadness, cynicism and perhaps a bit of anger. It may sound like complete malarky (sp) but I believe that we all go through these periods (some longer than others-atheists longer :) ) and at the end of these sometimes long periods-we come away with a more complete understanding of God. Those times of emptiness resulted in more questions than answers but after that period, I felt I had matured spiritually. I know it's not a rosy answer and that most of us want it to be just easy to feel that connection with God but if it were easy to stay connected to God....how would we grow toward him even more fully?
Yes, get back to the Original Kingdom Gospel... which is a Spiritual Gospel, and not the Pauline theology we hear these days.

This will explain the difference between Pauline theology and the Genuine Kingdom Gospel. ';Gospel Enigma'; It's the 10th book on the list here: http://newfreebooks.com

    Once you understand what that Original Gospel is actually about, you will then know how to ';reconnect.';

Don't be concerned, this is not your fault. It is just a symptom of faulty theology. Just get back to that Original Kingdom Gospel and the problem will be solved.
Heres help pray this: ';Lord Jesus, come into my heart, I accept you now as my savior, write my name in the lambs book of life and be in my heart and fullfill it, in Jesus name I believe I recieve you in my heart, Amen';. when you pray this do it in private so you can hear yourself whisper, then read the bible in St John. http://www.audio-bible.com/bible/bible.h鈥?/a> http://bible.com/ http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0023鈥?/a>
dont sweat it dude....its just reality setting in.

    .

its natural to be upset when you realize all religion is hogwash.

    .

it will go away %26amp; you will be much happier as an atheist.
Maybe you have a clinical problem like depression or bipolar tendencies.
Help someone less fortunate. Nothing is so spiritually fulfilling as that.

I get down on my knees to pray, talk to my family, and listen to my friends.Where do you turn to get spiritual and life advice?
I have studied the bible, referenced and crossed referenced the bible since a child of 10 years old.

I found the book of Proverbs contains good common sense advice. Anyone can go to their concordance in the bible or use an on line bible reference; type in a subject and find the scriptures, chapter and verse that pertains to their struggle.

I also was given the gift of watching a TV minister named Joyce Meyer over 10 years ago. She has bible based advice for '; Everyday Life.'; There is a great difference in being spiritual and religious. God prefers spiritual.

If one has access to the net, she can be found at joycemeyer.org

Her messages can be listened to or watched as videos. Download and CD burning is free. One can choose by topic also.

Good Luck and God Bless your search.

My buddy is in AA and found a great group of people who REALLY know about steps to reduce the self/ego. I usually talk to him.
I take no ones word totally , it has to , be studied through , It is so great we can talk to Jesus any time.
To get spiritual advice, I think you would have to communicate with THE spirit. But life advice, anyone can give. Even a bum on a corner can answer true to life questions on almost anything. Collect data from many sources. Compare and contrast.

    Dear Kevvan,

The best place to get spiritual counsel is from God (Jesus Christ). The Lord has blessed us with His word--the Bible. When you read the Bible, it is like sitting at the feet of God (Jesus Christ). Many people believe that the Bible has errors in it or contradictions, but that is not true. We must come very humbly to the Bible and ask the Lord for understanding and wisdom. The Bible contains precious treasure that one cannot find on their own. Only the Lord can open our eyes to see truth and then follow it. The Lord's wisdom is infinite and many people, in their pride, criticize and scorn the Bible. You see how that ewven reading the Bible is a test. If you would like further info see: www.familyradio.com.

When you cannot see your way, is it all right to ask another's advice in spiritual things?

Have you ever divuged an extremely personal thing to a complete stranger because an issue needed a fresh viewpoint? When you cannot see your way, is it all right to ask another's advice in spiritual things?
It is very much okay to seek someone or even more than one for an advice. Still it is even better to seek from someone who knew you well but will not tell you what you want to hear but rather what you need to hear. A stranger may say words that could help, however, just make sure that the stranger will not be taking advantage of your weak and vulnerable situation.

You will be the one to make a final decision after you have weighed which of the advices you heard will fit definitely to your plan or your set goal in life. When you cannot see your way, is it all right to ask another's advice in spiritual things?
I don't share much of the ';extremely personal'; aspects of my life to people I know.I guess the only subject I can remember I have discussed (to people I don't know) my deceased wife.
When I cannot see my way clear in an important matter I divulge every extremely personal matter to Jesus Christ whenever any issue needs a Holy viewpoint.

Your spelling of divulged is correct. No apology is necessary.
Only on the internet I have. Maybe because it is very easy to do there. And I have on the internet with deep subjects, but never in person with a stranger. Hope this helps... Peace, love and light
    No. It is not o.k.

Only you are responsible for your own actions.

Telling someone else about your actions does nothing for you and only unnecessarily burdens them with your baggage.
That's what people are here for. People need other people sometimes for comfort and support.
That would depend on the topic and the stranger.
I am a HUGE believer in the power of prayer!!
Nah, I just divulge personal things to turn them on!
    i think it's okay.

Has your spiritual walk changed? If so, How? If it was like mine take some friendly advice.?

In the late 60's early 70's we thought spiritual enlightenment would come to those who would accept things freely. Sex, drugs, and rock were the dogma of the age. Yes, I saw Woodstock live and up close. Today I am much wiser and God has set my feet upon the path to Him through His Son.Has your spiritual walk changed? If so, How? If it was like mine take some friendly advice.?
Yes my walk has changed significantly. I ran into an old friend an Barnes and Noble and he has helped me to regain my old self in a new and profound way. He has led me to something that has been within me this whole time just waiting for me to sut up long enough and to admit that I have no real answers.

Christianity is life and wisdom in Christ. It is a return to the Father in Christ. It is a return to the infinite abyss of pure reality in which our own reality is grounded, and in which we exist. It is a return to the source of all meaning and all truth. It is a return to the inmost springs of life and joy. It is a rediscovery of paradise within our own spirit by self-forgetfulness. And because of our oneness with Christ, it is the recognition of ourselves as sons of the Father. It is the recognition of ourselves as other Christ鈥檚. It is the awareness of strength and love imparted to us by the miraculous presence of the Nameless and Hidden One Whom we call the Holy Spirit.Has your spiritual walk changed? If so, How? If it was like mine take some friendly advice.?
Hi I am not a child of the 60s or 70s I am child of children of the 60s and 70s

so Sex drugs and rock was my sheep to count or my sugar plums

And as you wish for your children to do better I have been a Christian

Baptisted for 13years have had the hardest time staying

    on the right path

my focus has wavered but not my love for GOD

Mine too has changed, Not exactly like yours though. I was raised Catholic and taught right from wrong. I never really prayed to the Lord or anything like that. I only sing church songs and try to be the best person that I can be. Originally I was to be confirmed into the Catholic church and be totally committed. I have changed that though... I have decided that it is for me to take all that I was raised up with and live a life to the best of my abilities. No church can tell me what I have done or haven't done. I know what I need to know to keep me going in life. But yeah, I am glad your path has changed for the better.
My spiritual walk has changed radically in the last couple of months. My grandma was hospitalized after a serious Stroke and brain surgery. I am thankful to say that she is home now... but the last couple of months have seen me in the trenches with nothing left but faith. I've given up so much to follow in these last months. My great job, my apartment, my friends and family (I had to move out of state to help care for her), part of my savings... but at the same time... I have NEVER been happier. God has taught me to lean on him, walk with my eyes focused were they need to be... and give freely of everything that I have! I became a christian many years ago to make my sister angry... imagine my surprise when it became the focus of my life... and the reason I get up every morning was so that I could live another day giving thanks to God for all his blessings.

I think that I have grown in my faith and in God so much in the low periods. I don't know everything and I am certain that I will have to relearn these lessons... but in this moment I know that every breath I take is a gift from God, every hardship a blessing, and every moment that I get to be here I will praise him with all that I am.

    God Bless and Keep you!

Cousins Getting Married!! (Spiritual Wedding Advice)?

My cousin named Dulce created a wedding website. She would like us to sign her guest book. I would like to leave her some spiritual wedding advice. This is what I've written so far, please let me know if I have any grammatical errors, or if I should change anything.

    Thanks again everyone!

    Dear Dulce,

As you begin to embark on this wonderful journey of love, compromise and understanding; I send you my eternal blessings for a happy and prosperous marriage. Your wedding day will become the cultivation of all the seeds of love and hard work, you and Ralph have planted throughout your relationship. Marriage isn't only an institution created by man, but also by God. Marriage is so important to our Creator, that it's even applied to Christ and the Church. Christ being the Bridegroom, and the Church (The body of believers) as the Bride. So as a Bride, remains faithful and anxious for her Bridegroom, we too who are the bride of Christ wait with great anticipation for the day when we will be reunited with our Bridegroom. Until then we remain faithful to Him.

In the words of St. Paul:

    ';Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.';

    -Till Christ Returns

God BlessCousins Getting Married!! (Spiritual Wedding Advice)?
I think that your Greeting was beautiful.

It is your own wording and straight fromt the heart.

I don't think anyone else can improve on your own greetings and your

    own wishes for the couple.

It's your personal original touchCousins Getting Married!! (Spiritual Wedding Advice)?
if you want to get really technical with the grammar:

-delete the commas after ';hard work';, ';Creator';, and ';Bride';.

    -un-capitalize ';The'; body of believers

-change ';christ being'; to ';christ is'; (otherwise it's a sentence fragment)

but even if you left it as is, it sounds wonderful :) great metaphor to remind her of before she gets married.
End it at ';also by God';. Otherwise you end up subjecting your friends to a fairly inappropriate sermon, when you want to congratulate them. ';Marriage isn't only an institution created by man, but also by God.'; is plenty enough witnessing for your faith.

Moderation in all things is a virtue.
Before you get married they should keep three days abstinence from food(I mean they should eat only food made from plants) sex,bad thoughts, fighting, dirty words,no smoking and of course they have to pray and many others.Of course I did not say they do that but I just said.It is good to fast three days because marriage is for life.I am orthodox from Romania. For every good thing must be a sacrifice(3 days of fasting)
It sounds good up to the part where it ends throughout your relationship.I think there is enough spiritual advice there in that paragraph.Like another person the whole message could be misleading the point of what you are trying to say.
The subject of this was totally misleading! Oh well. Anyway. I think what you said was lovely.
you had a good start but then it became too religious .

Is anyone seriously looking for advice on their spiritual belief or the lack of believe in the supernatural?

It seems like many are like me, pretty much set in their beliefs. Many are able to handle the diversity with a degree of manners and grace, while a few seem only to want to vent. Lately, I have seen a few accounts created to come on R%26amp;S to only ask profane questions, or give foul answers. How many think it was kids with no supervision? I do not want to believe that there are that many adults walking around with so much hate and rage.Is anyone seriously looking for advice on their spiritual belief or the lack of believe in the supernatural?
I've learned a few things since I've been coming into this forum, and I hope I may have helped a few others to learn some things, as well.

Alot of folks in this forum to seem to be filled with bitterness and rage. Some of them are kids, I'm sure, but many of them are adults. I agree, it's a frightening thought. Is anyone seriously looking for advice on their spiritual belief or the lack of believe in the supernatural?
Unfortunately, I have met many adults that if they were on-line would say and do exactly what we see on here and hope are just children doing it. :(

I look at your first part of your question this way...yes, many of us are firm in our belief's....but, through time, comming here can either help a non-believer see the light or can convince someone with less faith to lose what they thought they had... and I have seen an inkling of both of thoise types in just the short time that I have joined Y%26amp;A.

    Unfortunately, works both ways.

On the other hand....sure is a good training ground for any Christian whom is thinking about going into any type of ministry in how to deal with sarcasm, attacks, foolishness, and so on :)

    God be with you :)
I'm here to answer questions and ask a few.

    atheist
There are those who are seriously looking for answers. However the ones who ask profane questions, or give foul answers are guilty of religious discrimination, persecution. They credit it to freedom of speech. I call it pushing the envelope. They can't make any meaningful contribution to a subject. They choose to be abusive, which shows what they're like in their normal everyday life. Sad, but true.
I am both looking for answers and answering questions as I can, on this and other topics.

As for the subject of who is asking what, I must say that I can't suppose. I feel I must treat every question as a need for more knowledge. This Belief, as my guide, simply says to educate.

In response to the desire not believe that there are a great number of adults with an overt amount of hate and rage, I must say that I agree. I do not want to believe that, either.

However, I believe that an outpouring of my advice, love, and care onto this forum of Yahoo Answers, may help to stem the flow of such things into the wider world. So, I say this: Bring it on!

    Good Luck and Goddess Bless.
Here is what the Bible states about hate shown toward Christians:

Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Luk 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

Joh 15:21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

But our hope is in Jesus Christ:

Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

Isa 25:9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Rev 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Rev 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
