What Spiritual advice would you give someone who feels suicide is the only way out of their pain?

Probably a suicide hotline

Actually probably therapists. There are just some things in life you have to leave to the professionals.

Seriously. Sometimes spiritual advice can make it worse, and sometimes better, but I'd never risk a friend's life when their problems could be better handled a phonecall away. What Spiritual advice would you give someone who feels suicide is the only way out of their pain?
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. The pain will go away if the person will only seek support from others, not isolate and work on solving the problems. Counseling can really help, but look around until you find a good counselor.

Listen to this person, non-judgmentally, and ask them questions about their suicidal feelings. Then try to get them connected to a counselor of physician, family doctor. What Spiritual advice would you give someone who feels suicide is the only way out of their pain?
I see suicide as a permanent solution to a temporary problem. The only constant in life is change, as trite as it sounds, things do happen for a reason. The pain that we experience, in this lifetime, is there for a reason... to hopefully make us stronger, to teach us lessons, and show us what we are capable of.

The problem is when you are in that 'dark place', the idea that anything positive could come from the current situation(s) seems outlandish. Seeing the light at the end of the darkness can be next to impossible, especially when fully enveloped in darkness. It usually, at least for me, takes time to stand back form the experience and look at it from other angles to see the lesson that was to be gleaned.

Before I'd give any spiritual advice I'd establish myself first as a true and honest friend who is very concerned.

Secondly, I'd introduce the person to the Holy Rosary. The power of its prayer and the majesty of its message is a source of comfort to anyone and everyone who carries a lingering doubt as to their role on earth, and their return back to heaven.
Don't let the devil's influence in....there is no hole so deep that God's love is not deeper still...this phrase came from Corrie Ten Boom a survivor of the holocaust...she survived due to a typo in the number sequence she was given...they released her due their mistake, but by God's grace the typo happened and not to long after that every woman in the camp was killed. She survived the torture of the germans, and you can survive the torture of the mind in turmoil...Give God a chance and faith. He can do anything if you believe He can.
The darkest hour is just before the dawn. When you feel the worst; it is probably about to change for the better if you don't give up. My Mom used to always say: ';Things always look better in the morning after a good night's sleep.'; Do something good for someone else without expecting to get paid back. Go outside and breathe deeply and be aware of the world around you. Take control of your thoughts. Pray to Jesus and He will help you. Romans 8:28 (paraphrased) All things work together for good for those who love God. Start to look for little things to be grateful for. Remember Jesus loves you very much and He will give you hope if you let Him.
Ask them to think about those they would be leaving behind. See if they'd want people they care about to feel the way they do at the point in time.

Generally, this can help people in some way. Since most don't seem to realize the affect killing themselves would have on others.
STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!!!

You think you can take 'the easy way out' by committing suicide?? well you couldn't be more wrong. Suicide will earn you a one-way ticket to Hell.

God put you on this Earth for a purpose. That purpose is to believe and submit to His Divine Will. God has promised us Heaven or Hell according to the life we live here and the deeds we do. If you believe and worship God alone (no partners or trinity) an you live a good and righteous life and cope through our tests and hardships with faith and patience, then InshaAllah (God willing) you will gain a place in Heaven.
I would leave spirituality out of it for the time being, and refer this person immediately to a suicide hotline, or take them directly to the hospital.
Well, if one were a Christian, he would probably tell him something like:

God loves you very much and He cares for you immensely, you are loved by him always, so please don't give up you life.
honestly, it might be best to tell them to do something that makes them feel alive or kills them quickly...i honestly don't see anything wrong with suicide, though i am afraid of it
No spiritual advice; I would buy them a drink or something.
I wouldn't.

I would steer clear of all the spiritual crap as it does not help.
what other option is there besides life? we'll all die someday. why waste the time you have now?
